It has been a while since we posted but somethings kind of prompt you to get back into the swing of things. For me it has been the sad loss of so many big personalities from the world of music.
Bowie, Lemmy, John Bradbury, Colin Vearncombe are just a few that have passed away in the last few weeks. Add to that the likes of Alan Rickman and Abe Vigoda from the acting world and it has been a tough month.
As with every celebrity death there is the public mourning which at times can appear to be quite contrived. This year though people seem to be pulling together in union at the passing of some of their favorite stars.
David Bowie's passing, with all due respect to all the other artists that will be sorely missed, was probably the biggest shock. Releasing his latest studio album 'Black Star' on his birthday on Friday, January 8th he was suddenly thrust back into the public consciousness but none of us knew how ill he was.
Just two days later on Sunday the 10th many of us woke to the news that he had passed away. As you can imagine social media went into meltdown and his back catalogue was snapped up, some unscrupulous traders even upped their prices to make a quick buck.
Apparently he had been suffering from cancer for some years but like so much of his life it was kept from the public eye. We still haven't heard too much information about what kind of Cancer he succumbed to but there have been reports from people close to him that it was Liver Cancer.
With both Alan Rickman and Lemmy also dying from Cancer it is almost fitting that on February 4th we will be recognising another World Cancer Day. It is used to "raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment".
There are a number of ways to raise awareness and money to go towards battling cancer, this year there is a dedicated wristband to go towards it. It goes without saying that any queries should be checked out immediately either at your GP or through private care.
One of the most respected private cancer care clinics in the world is the LOC which is situated in London. You can find out more about things like private lung cancer treatment and breast cancer treatment by visiting their site via the following links.

It is inevitable that our heroes will pass away one day but it is always so hard to take when that day does come around. Losing so many big names in such a short space of time, especially around New Year really hits home and it is up to us to remember them.

New Foos News Clues
Dave Grohl has had a pretty busy 2013 for a man with a band on hiatus. Between directing his own movie, playing on Queens of the Stone Age new album and getting In Utero back out on reissue, it seems Foo Fighters might soon be back.
Chatting to XFM this week, Grohl said a new album has been written and could be completely done within a few months. Not wanting to hype it up too much, he mentioned how 'next year is going to be a really big year... without question.'
With their last album Wastling Light reaching no.1 in 13 countries, with platinum or gold status in 10, it could be sooner rather than later that we see the Foos popping up everywhere again.
Hire DJ for party: £320 000 O.N.O
If you're a struggling DJ then you may want to stop reading now. Last week Forbe's Magazine revealed who were the top earning DJs around the world. With the growing strength of dance music, many were surprised to see Calvin Harris top the list. It wasn't a shock that he got it, although he'd previously never listed, but because of how much he made: $44 million this last year. Anyone who follows him on twitter will notice that the guy is constantly travelling and performing so you can't say he's not working hard for it. But with 9 singles from his latest album being in the Top 10 (the first artist to ever do so) and residencies in Mallorca, Ibiza and Las Vegas, it's never been a better time for the Scottish DJ.

I Can See For Miles...
Mod revivals have come and gone in the 80's and 90's but looking at the current crop things are looking bright. Emerging bands like The Strypes and The Spitfires are young, raw and exciting and are showing a great deal of promise while already established artists are going from strength to strength as we can see from the latest album release from Miles Kane, Don't Forget Who You Are.
Having shaped his style with The Little Flames, The Rascals and The Last Shadow Puppets he looks like he is ready to lead the way in what could be the latest Mod revival.
The album, released on June 3rd, is already proving popular with his loyal fan base and has won favourable reviews from the likes of NME and personally speaking it has got me through my commutes to and from work for the last few days.
The Birkenhead born Liverpool fan is also good friend with Everton left back Leighton Baines who, after the departure of David Moyes to Manchester Utd, could soon be making the short trip to play for one of Liverpools other biggest rivals.
Kane is currently in the middle of a UK tour that will see him playing at some of the top venues and festivals inclusing the Hard Rock Calling event at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park alongside the likes of Paule Weller, Kasabian, The Cribs, Tribes and Twin Atlantic.
You can check out the title track from the album below.

The Sound of the Summer
Unless you have been living in a cave I am sure you will have heard Daft Punk, non stop. Without doubt we will be force fed the album throughout the summer but if you happen to be looking for something to remind you of the sunshine isle, Jamaica, then have a listen to the latest offering from The Skints.
The band, made up with Marcia Richards, Jonathan Doyle, Joshua Waters Rudge and Jamie Kyriakides hail from Londons East End and produce a Ska/Reggae/Dub hybrid that can chase away even the darkest of clouds.
The second album, Part & Parcel, was released about a year ago and after tours across the UK The Skints are really starting to find an audience that is ready for a good UK Reggae band.
If you get the opportunity I would strongly recommend seeing them live, the diversity and infectious beat will keep you coming back to this album and if the great British summer ever sees fit to raise it's head what better soundtrack to have than this.
